Among adult users, according to measurement firm Media Metrix, 43.7 percent of Web users are men over age 18, while 41.9 percent are women.

Women flocking to the Net
11/8/99, Greg Gatlin, Boston Herald. Men were generally first on the Internet, but women are closing the gap. Forrester Research in Cambridge says 29 percent of all American women now use the Internet regularly, compared to 39 percent of men. Of those Internet users, about 30 percent of women make purchases, compared to 40 percent of men.
